LLM SEO

People started saying LLM SEO when assistants began answering the questions they used to type into a search box. The name is borrowed, and it hides a real difference: there is no ranked list to climb.

What the term means

An assistant answers from what it absorbed during training and what it retrieves while you are talking to it. Neither is a results page. A brand is either in the answer or it is not, and there is no second position to settle for.

What changes an answer

Being written about somewhere the model can reach, having pages that state plainly what you do, and being described the same way across the places that mention you. A model that finds several different accounts of one company tends to repeat none of them faithfully.

  • Pages that answer the question in the words a person would use.
  • One consistent description of the company wherever it appears.
  • Mentions on sites the model already retrieves from.

How to see where you stand

Ask the models directly and write down what they say. Navlio does this against GPT, Claude, Grok and Gemini, and reports which ones knew you, how they described you, and what they got wrong.

Questions

Is LLM SEO different from SEO?

The work overlaps and the scoreboard does not. Clear pages and outside mentions help both. But search gives you a position and a click, while an assistant gives you a sentence or nothing.

How long does it take to show up?

Retrieval can pick up a new page within days. Training memory moves on the order of model releases, which is months. Expect the retrieved half to move first.
